Our History

Founded in 1998 by Alain Chartrand, CHARCO SÉCURITÉ emerged in response to an unmet need in the Quebec landscape. With a rich and diverse career, including over twenty years of experience in sales and business ownership, as well as roles as a firefighter and first responder, Alain brings a unique vision to the security industry. His extensive expertise, including his work as a specialized armorer for police forces, being one of the five Smith & Wesson distributors in Canada, and his role as an expert witness at the Superior Court of Quebec, laid the solid foundations for Charco.

Charco’s history is marked by a pause in 2006 following the closure of small police forces in Quebec, the company’s main clients at the time. This challenge did not deter Alain’s entrepreneurial spirit and adaptability. Inspired by the lack of personalization and the digital approach to employees in the security sector, he reinvented the company in 2019 with a clear mission: to offer more personalized, human, and qualified security services. Shortly after, Lyne Chartrand joined the company as Vice President, supporting Charco’s renewed vision. Together, they are committed to treating their staff humanely and personally, convinced that a happy employee reflects superior service quality.

Additionally, 60% of our vehicle fleet consists of hybrid or electric models, reaffirming our commitment to more sustainable mobility. Our ambitious goal of becoming a paperless company underscores our desire to minimize resource consumption and optimize our internal processes for a greener future.
